Emberfall Chronicle

★★★★★ 4.6 Editor rating

Emberfall Chronicle is a proper pocket RPG. You lead a small party across a hand-drawn world, picking fights that play out in turn-based rounds where positioning matters as much as raw stats. Early on it feels gentle, then around the third region it starts asking you to actually think about your lineup.

The writing carries it. Each companion has a backstory that unfolds through optional camp conversations, and skipping them means missing some of the best moments. We ended up caring about a grumpy archer we almost benched in the first hour.

Grinding is kept reasonable. You can clear the main story without endless farming, though the optional superbosses will test your gear. Save often — a couple of fights have sudden difficulty spikes that caught us off guard.
